I just came upon this post by Paul Levy, who until recently was CEO of the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, about Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, where I direct the ethics program. Paul's excellent and very widely read "Running a Hospital" blog has been renamed - "Not Running a Hospital."
It's a very thoughtful post, with an illuminating follow up comment from Eric Schultz, the CEO of Harvard Pilgrim.

I'm curious to know why the "Running a Hospital" blog has been renamed to "Not Running a Hospital". Anyway, I love to read articles about health and related topic. So I'm glad that I found your blog here.
Hi Stewart
Welcome to reading this blog!
When Paul Levy started his blog he was running the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He no longer runs it. that's why he changed the name of his blog.

May I ask you a question? To be honest, I don’t quite understand about the terms of major repairs and urgent action that Eric has mentioned in his comment. I mean, could please give me some examples? I hope you can give me further explanation about it. Thank you in advance.
Hello Jacob -
Thank you for your question. And, my apologies for my delay in responding.
By "urgent action," Eric presumably is thinking of the terrible problems health care costs pose to our society. By "repair," he presumably means steps like replacing fee-for-service reimbursement with different forms of global payment, and providing much better information than is currently available about the quality and cost of alternative health care settings and treatments.
Best
Jim
Hi Jim,
It was a great article once again. :) It was precise, very informative and excellently written. I was wondering though if you can lead me to a link to "Not Running a Hospital"? I would really appreciate it. Thanks :)
Thank you for the kind words!
